Announcement: Space is available at the Broadway Book Mall for the right bookseller(s). While not a requirement, we are particularly interested in someone who can staff the store (training provided) at least one weekday a month, and there is a discount on the rent amount for every day you can work. Information sheet available by email upon request.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 22, 2:00

Carol Berg will discuss and sign The Daemon Prism, the 3rd in her Collegia Magica series. Consumed with despair, the blind necromancer Dante seeks refuge in a magical puzzle -- a puzzle that supposedly fulfills one's utmost desires. But it's actually a seductive trap, threatening to unleash the very cataclysm he fears.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 3:00

A quartet of talented Colorado SF writers:

Robin D. Owens, Hearts and Swords - three novellas and a story...the discovery of Celta; an older couple story; Genista Holly Furze's new life and new love; and the Clovers win a noble title. Robin will also sign Enchanted Again - Magic has a price--and for Amber Sarga it's days and years off her life. Each curse she breaks ages her--and the bigger the curse the bigger the cost, and not only to her. That's why she hides away and has vowed not to get involved again... That's why she hates looking in a mirror……

Alastair Mayer, The Chara Talisman - On a distant planet, archeologist Hannibal Carson finds the remains of a high-tech artifact in a primitive tomb. A ruthless cult believes it's the clue to a lost cache of alien weapons. With a thriving black market in alien artifacts, Carson is used to dealing with tomb raiders -- but the stakes this time are xenocide and interstellar war.

Courtney Schafer, The Whitefire Crossing - With Dev’s skill and connections, it's easy enough to slip contraband charms from Ninavel - where any magic is fair game, no matter how dark - into Alathia, where most magic is outlawed. But smuggling a few charms is one thing; smuggling a person through the warded Alathian border is near suicidal…..

Rob Ziegler, Seed - It's the dawn of the 22nd century, and the world has fallen apart. Decades of war and resource depletion have toppled governments. The ecosystem has collapsed. A new dust bowl sweeps the American West. The United States has become a nation of migrants - starving masses of nomads who seek out a living in desert wastelands and encampments outside government seed-distribution warehouses

SATURDAY, MARCH 3, 3:00

Cindi Myers, The Woman Who Loved Jesse James - Jesse was a dangerous puzzle: a loving husband to Zee and a father who kept his “work” separate from his family, though Zee heard the lurid rumors of his career as a bank robber and worse. Still, she never gave up on him. And he earned her love, time and again.

J.A. Kazimer, Curses! A F&%#ed-Up Fairy Tale - Definitely "not" for baby's bedtime reading, this hilarious and irreverent take on classic fairy tales--think "Shrek" for grown-ups--combines humor, mystery, and characters only a fairy godmother could love.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh, the weather outside is frightful.  But the books inside are delightful.  We have lots of lovely books suitable for gift-giving.  It’s nice to hold a book in your hands, and an e-reader certainly can’t simulate that feel, or the beauty of the cover and interior illustrations.  We have a special display of beautiful (not expensive) books that would make nice gifts.  We also have dozens and dozens of autographed modern first printings (most not expensive).
While not wanting to stray far from our mission of placing lovely books in your hands, we do have a handful of non-book gift ideas.  This includes a few book-oriented T-shirts at $15 each.  As time permits, we will also giftwrap your purchases at no charge.
For the undecided, we offer the Chinook Book, a compendium of coupons for local restaurants and shopping places (including our store and at least 2 other book stores).  Regularly $20, it is only $15 til the end of the year.
For the further undecided, we offer gift certificates in any denomination of your choice.  Christmas-themed or generic, they are attractive and come in matching envelopes for gift giving.
We will be open Christmas Eve until at least 6 p.m. for your shopping needs.  It’s Ron’s birthday (an important, geezer-like one….can you say “Medicare”), so come by and wish him well in his doddering old age.
 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
We have several books signed for us at Mile Hi Con by guests Glen Cook, Gardner Dozois and Vernor Vinge, as well as books by celebrated Denver and Regional authors.  We also still have signed copies of The Gathering Storm, by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, all of Connie Willis' titles, as well as books signed by local writers such as Mario Acevedo, Carrie Vaughn, Carol Berg, Robin Owens, David Boop, Julie Anne Peters, John Dunning, Laura Reeve and too many more to name right now.  To ask about a specific author or title or to order, call 303-744-BOOK (2665) or email us at info AT BroadwayBookMall.com. We can take cash, checks, most credit cards, and PayPal.
At our Grand Opening party, we made a special presentation to our phone and internet provider, Liberty Bell, www.303Bundles.com/29750.  They loved the early 1900's sheet music we found entitled "Liberty Bell". (We got it from our sheet music seller, TJ Music, right here in the store.)
We support Schlessman Public Library, 1st & Poplar in Denver, by providing books for their Colorado Authors Series,
which will begin
again in
Spring of 2012.
The Denver Book Mall closed August 31, 2009, but Ron and Nina were thrilled to be able to open a new book store, Broadway Book Mall, 200 S. Broadway, Denver, CO, southeast corner of Broadway and Cedar, just 3-1/2 blocks south of the Denver Book Mall location.  We brought with us 9 of the booksellers from the old store.  Great books, great people, great service and great parking.  REAL books for REAL people.
We've been open since August 4, 2009 and are thriving in our new location.  Please help us spread the word by linking to our web site and by telling absolutely everyone you know!
